The Finding of the Head of Prince
( Car Lazar )
1945
Đorđe Krstić is in many ways the figurehead of the 19th century Serbian art and culture - among other things, because at the close of the epoch of romantic historicsm he was on the reoad to making a completely authentic contribution by harmonizing national tradition and modern figurative experssion. The Road to maturity was not short. In 1873 he found himself at the Art Academy in Munich, going on to continue more advanced studies in Rome in 1881, where he strenghtened his faith in the lasting values of bygone artistic epochs.
